Navua was the tenth town to launch the Walesi Free WiFi hotspot doing so yesterday at the Vashist Muni College.

Walesi Fiji Limited director, Robert Khan said he was overwhelmed with the response from the people that were present despite the weather.

Mr Khan added they aim to provide free connectivity for the people of Navua in areas that it best suits.

“We want the Navua people to have free access to the digital world, connect with people locally and internationally,” he said.

“This can be used for education purposes, for government purposes, access to digital Fiji platform and empowering youth in the digital space.

“We will situate the free hotspot areas in Navua market, Navua bus stand and central Navua town.

“The launch today in Navua had overwhelming response and approximately 3000 people were at the school throughout the day.”

Mr Khan said the initial announcement was to complete 10 sites which they have and will now be heading into their second phase of the project.

“We are in the second phase of the next ten so next week, we launch Tavua and Rakiraki.

“The week after is Valelevu,” he added.

“The Government has worked very hard for the last few years to make education better and life more modern.

“We have been told by the Government that they want to do much more over the next few years to make life easier for all Fijians through new technology,” he said.
