Fijian bodybuilder Jekesoni Yanuyanudrua took out the Mr South Pacific title, at the South Pacific Bodybuilding Championships at the Grand Pacific Hotel, Suva on Saturday night.

Dubbed the Fijian Superman, he scooped two gold medals to take top honours.

The first goal medal was won in the men’s 100kg and the second came after he was declared the overall winner of his category.

The Matokana, Ono-i-Lau native said he was expecting the win since he had worked hard for it.

“It feels good to win,” Yanuyanudrua said.

“I’ve been working hard for this competition. I’ve been training for the last five years preparing for a show like this.

“As a young boy back in high school one of my aim was to win a title for my country and I’m happy that I have achieved it.”

He said taking part in the championship was a good experience for him as he was competing against the best in the Pacific.

Yanuyanudrua who collapsed shortly after being declared the winner said he had given his all.

“I was already exhausted but one of the things that kept me strong was my faith in God and the support of the crowd.”

He dedicated the win to all his supporters that had helped him along the way and also to his family.
