National rep Rusiate Matererega is out of the Nadi team for the 2018 Pacific Cup which will be held in Sydney, Australia on November 21 – 25.

The Bavu, Nadroga native has secured a three-year contract with a club in New Zealand.

Team director Ashwant Singh said, “Rusi will be moving to New Zealand with his family for three years so he won’t be available to play for Nadi. His visa has been approved. We did tried to persuade him but he has opted for his future and all the best to him.”

Singh said during the transfer window they have lost a lot of players but that does not stop them from exposing other players.

“We have youth players and we will be banking on them to take us forward.

“We are the only local team to have won the Pacific Cup four times.”
