A team of nine Fijians will soon head to Mumbai, India, to study acting at Bollywood’s most renowned film school Actor Prepares run by veteran actor, Anupam Kher.

This was confirmed by the Director of MASTI Arts & Dance Group, Amit Ashween Chand, who is spearheading this initiative.

“Fiji has immense untapped talent potential and this once in a lifetime opportunity would enable these talented and passionate individuals to hone their abilities in a professional environment for performing on camera and on stage” said Mr Chand.

Actor Prepares Institute is a leading film school in Mumbai, which has several A List celebrities like Deepika Padukone, Hrithik Roshan, Preity Zinta, Varun Dhawan and many others.

Actor Prepares is India’s finest acting school for talented individuals who wish to pursue careers as actors and writers in the entertainment industry.

Established in 2005 by Mr Kher, it is the only school for actors and writers in the world to be founded by an actor-director who is professionally active.

The intensive professional-level courses provide specialised training in acting and screenwriting. The classes are conducted by competent in-house faculty members who passionately teach the craft through practical, theory classes, games, exercises and extensively filmed practicals.

In addition, there is a roster of Bollywood celebrities, which comprises the schools visiting faculty, who share with students their invaluable on-the-job experiences and tips to success. Above all, each student receives individual guidance and counselling from the country’s most successful, trained teacher, Anupam Kher, throughout the programme.

The team leaves Fiji on November 29 for a one-month Certificate Course at the institute’s Andheri Campus.

During their stay, they will also take part in casting call auditions and visit film sets. Mr Chand hopes to add to the creation of a vibrant and successful film industry in Fiji through his initiatives.
