SODELPA President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu is urging party supporters to refrain from making comments in the media and social media regarding the case of their leader, Sitiveni Rabuka.

He made the comment in a video posted on the SODELPA Facebook page.

The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption last week filed an appeal to the High Court after the acquittal of Mr Rabuka’s case in the Suva Magistrates Court. He was found not guilty of providing a false declaration of his assets, income and liabilities.

Ratu Naiqama said: “We respect the legal process and the rights of appeal of all persons and law enforcement agencies.

“I urge the SODELPA family to refrain from making comments in the media, particularly in the social media platforms on the mater. The matter is now before the court, so we should refrain from making comments”

Since the announcement of the appeal, party supporters have taken to social media urging postal voters and pre-poll voters to vote for any other SODELPA candidate other than Mr Rabuka. This is to avoid wasting their vote in case Mr Rabuka fails to win.

Ratu Naiqama reiterated that Mr Rabuka remains SODELPA’s party leader.

“I repeat, Major-General Rabuka remains our Party Leader and I urge all supporters to remain united behind him.”

He also urged members to redouble their efforts for the Party’s ongoing campaign for the 2018 General Elections.

“I also wish to emphasise that we remain confident and buoyant. We are united and undaunted in our resolve to restore “leadership that listens” to our beloved Fiji.

“I remain impressed every day when I witness the efforts of our candidates who are on the ground, in the highlands, crossing rivers and seas, to reach our people and reaffirm their
support for a change in 2018.”

He also urged SODELPA supporters to remain calm, and steadfast.

He said Mr Rabuka has been exemplary in his leadership of the Party since he was appointed two years ago.

“The Party remains paramount, and we continue to follow due process and the rule of law. No person is greater than the Party, and we all, as party members, stand for the Party’s values and principles, that will be implemented through the Party Manifesto,” Ratu Naiqama said.
