Unity Fiji agrees with common name for Fijian citizens

Unity Fiji agrees there should be a common name for all Fijian citizens.
Party general secretary Satish Kumar said they agree with a common name and the country had moved forward with the issue.
“We agree with a common name like other countries, Australia, New Zealand and many other countries,” Mr Kumar said.
“It is something that we do agree with and we go along with the fact that we have moved on with such a name.”
However, the party’s stand on a common identity for all is not specified in their manifesto.
When questioned about this Mr Kumar said the party was aware of the sensitivity of the issue.
“We feel the sensitivity of it. While we are all with it we have left it with time if there are issues and the public at large feel otherwise than we will be happy to reconsider things but as it is we have moved forward and that is already there legally by the current government and we go along with that,” he said.
Unity Fiji launched their manifesto at the party’s headquarters in Samabula, Suva, on October 26, 2018.
The party has fielded 26 candidates to contest the November 14 General Election.
