The William Ryder-captained Bonunaqwele Jets claimed their second win in the inaugural Jack’s Nadi Rugby Union franchise competition at Prince Charles Park yesterday.

The side defeated Nadi Bay Sharks 17-12 after both teams were locked 12-12 at the breather.

Ron Katonivere, Inia Naqia, Sela Toga, Simeli Qovu, Ben Tuileva and Saimoni Botitu played well for the Jets.

Ryder said their aim was to score the winner in the second half.

“It was important to play full 80 minutes of rugby,” he said.

The Sharks had Penaia Nawelulu, Leone Nawai, Josateki Turuva, Nemani Diwai, and Orisi Erenavula.

In the other mouth- watering clash, the Jone Taifote-captained Betoraurau Giants recorded their first victory of the season with an 10-9 win over the Coastal Herons.

The side had the services of league regulars such as Waisiki Ramatau, Sivaniolo Qoro, Jone Sariri, Roger Qoro, Tikiko Noke and Sitiveni Rabuka.

The Giants trailed 9-0 at halftime.

The Herons had Marika Momo, Ameniasi Naivogo, Joseva Naivalu, Kolinio Koto, and John Kema,

Competition co-ordinator Jeff Tamata said; “The competition is exciting as the players are adapting to something different from the club games.”

When this edition went to press last night Koroba Chiefs were playing Samisoni Viriviri’s Rukuruku Highlanders.
