Are you a recent university graduate?

Someone who would jump at the chance to be treated like a professional and mentored by experts in your chosen field?

Westpac is calling for applications for its graduate program for both Fiji and Papua New Guinea.

This program invites high caliber graduates from local universities to participate in a 12 month programme and build their career with Westpac, the most sustainable bank globally.

Those who join the Westpac Pacific Graduate Programme are rewarded with the chance to work on real jobs from day one, a competitive salary, healthy work-life balance and all the support they need to kick-start their chosen career.

What Westpac’s graduates have to say about the program – graduates from last year’s program, who are now employed with Westpac had this to say about the Graduate Programme

“Applying for the Graduate Trainee programme is an opportunity you would not want to miss out on and I can testify to that.

The idea of having an on-hands experience, rotating between various departments to stimulate professional development was what attracted my attention in the first place.

Each rotation provides a unique experience of its own, and I get to work with people who support and guide me on a day-to-day basis, making the transition easy.

The programme provides a holistic learning and working experience as it has allowed me to develop as a person and a professional.

In addition to acquiring the necessary knowledge and skills required at each department, I also got to develop connections within the Bank – learning and growing with each departmental rotation.

I am motivated by the professional working culture and service delivery here at Westpac and it has pushed me to deliver on my role.

“Being selected as one of the Graduates for Westpac’s Pacific Graduate Program 2018 was truly privileging for me.

“Under this programme, I am able to go to different departments within the Bank and learn of their processes and procedures.

“It’s not just theory here, we are learning on the job and getting experienced at the same time from some of the best Bankers of Westpac.

Our Motto which is “We are people always helping people” is truly evident in the way everyone behave and portray the care factor towards each other.

The flexibility in work arrangements and family like atmosphere is what encourages me to come to work every day, with the pay and benefits being the icing on the cake. I would highly recommend those who will be graduating to apply for the 2019 Westpac Pacific Graduate Programme.”

General manager, Westpac Fiji, Brett Hooker said: “The programme comprises of four rotations of three months in different functional areas, allowing graduates to gain a broad experience across various areas of expertise.

“At the end of the programme, graduates transition into roles at Westpac that suit their career aspirations and our business needs.

“Graduates are also provided with a mentor to provide structure and support as they receive exposure to different areas of the business, and professional skills training to complement the learning they gain when they complete their degree,” said Mr Hooker.

“We’re so proud to operate based on strong local knowledge and expertise – and by growing our local talent base, we benefit from employees who truly understand how to meet our customers’ needs,” he said.
