A Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) candidate has expressed her vision for Fiji to become the agricultural hub of the Pacific.

SODELPA candidate Lynda Tabuya, a lawyer by profession, made the remark at the Lynda 518 Rally in Lautoka yesterday.

Ms Tabuya said she had a vision for Fiji.

“I have a vision for Fiji, that Fiji will become the capital and centre of the South Pacific in agriculture,” she said.

“We have beautiful sunshine, we have lots of land, we have clean water, we have good infrastructure, we have a highly literate population who can read and write, but most of all we have strong men and women who can till our land.

“Let’s make Fiji the centre of agriculture in this country, in the Pacific.”

She said SODELPA would bring the market to the people, if elected into government.

“Why can’t every single province and little town have processing plants? We will bring it to you,” she said.

“So, you don’t have to go far and spend too much to bring your goods into the city.

“This is what our yaqona farmers, our dalo farmers, our fruit farmers struggle with.

“They have to bring it themselves to the cities.

“We will bring that to you. SODELPA will do that.”

She said with this, the farmers would be able to create employment in their various areas.
