The 2018 Oceania Sevens Championship is the best platform to prepare for the Women Sevens Series in Dubai later this month, says Shakira Baker
The 26-year-old was excited to be involved and hopes to defend the title again today.
“It is very good being given the opportunity to play with young players,” Baker said
“They have so much talent coming through and we are able to share our knowledge.”
The Wairarapa native aims to create good culture within the squad
“With good culture comes success and we’re making sure all the girls are enjoying themselves as well.
“This will definitely be a good build-up for me for the Women Sevens Series later this month.”
Baker encourages fans to have faith when they want to achieve something
“Anything is possible if you work hard.”
She represented her country in 15s and sevens rugby.
She made her debut for the Black Ferns in 2011 in a test match against England.
She was also named in the Black Ferns squad to the 2014 Women’s Rugby World Cup.
