The Pranesh Amarsee-coached Blues FC thrashed debutant Tuva FC 6-1 in the opening match of the Vodafone National Club Championship’s Western playoffs at the Fiji FA Academy ground in Ba yesterday.

The side laced with star players like William Valentine, Shafim Buksh, and Samuela Tamanisau proved strong in all departments of play.

Amarsee said: “I’m not impressed despite the scorecard indicating that we had won 6-1. I’m not happy with the way we played.

“We have two tough matches in the coming days so we will go back to the drawing board as we approach the two matches.

“As defending champions we are in for a tough time and we’re optimistic of our chances.”

In other matches, Service Sports Club went down 6-1 to Yalalevu FC. Cameroon FC were hammered 9-0 by FC Gandhi with Christopher Chand putting on a sterling performance.

Lautoka’s City United FC edged out Nailaga FC 1-0. City United had the services of striker Samuela Drudru, defender Kolinio Sivoki  and midfielder Dave Radrigai.
