Graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing calls for celebration, but for Neville Rishan Prasad, a visit from his parents made the occasion more memorable.

Rajeshwar Prasad and his wife Anjee travelled from the United States to see their son graduate yesterday.

“I am so overwhelmed and happy to be here with him,” Mrs Prasad said.

“He has done us really proud and I am glad that his hard work has paid off.”

A total of 102 students graduated with a Bachelor in Nursing Science while another 12 graduated with Bachelors in Absentia from the Sangam College of Nursing and Health Care Education. The graduation ceremony was held in Suva.

Neville earlier received his Diploma in Nursing in 2010 and he currently serves as a nurse at the Ba Mission Hospital.

Originally from Varadoli, Ba, he dedicated this achievement to his mother, who he said was the reason he joined the nursing field.

“My parents are the driving force behind everything, especially my mum who has been a source of constant strength and motivation,” he said.

“It was difficult managing studies while working as a fulltime nurse, but my family, friends and colleagues made the journey a little easier.”

Neville hopes to further his studies in the field of medicine in the future.
