The 68-year-old, who hails from Naroi Village in Moala, Lau, was in tears as she described her late husband.

Her husband, the late Viliame Tunidau passed away in 2015.

“My husband was a hard working man and I am happy to be part of the Remembrance Day for all the soldiers in Fiji,” Ms Tunidau said.

“I think of him and wished he was here with me, but God had another plan for him. Remembrance Day is when we remember the sacrifice soldiers made and not forget who have served the nation and are still living.”

Ms Tunidau said her husband was a good father to her children and a good soldier to the country.

“I was married to my late husband for the past 39 years and never regretted it. He was a good father and a good son of this nation,” she said.

“I always attend the Remembrance Day celebration with my late husband, but after he was called to rest I continued to come and be part of an important celebration in Fiji.

“Despite the rain it is good to see that a lot of people came to celebrate the lives of soldiers who died serving the nation and those who are still alive.”
