Eighty-eight-year-old Ba resident Ram Raji did not let her disability get in her way.

She was determined to cast her vote as she did every election year since the national elections began in Fiji.

“I have never missed voting in any election, so I was determined to make it here today,” Mrs Raji said.

Even the heavy downpour experienced in Ba did not dampen her spirits and she was grateful for being assisted by people at the Xavier College polling station.

“I am happy that I came to vote and there was no problem at all.”

The Namosau Racehorse Road resident said she would like Fiji to be a peaceful country after the election.

With seven children and 13 grandchildren she stood proud as her family still saw her go and vote with her walking aid.

There were quite a number of people lined up at the school and were lucky to be protected by the sheltered walkways where they lined up.

An election official said everything ran smoothly and there were no problems.
