Role models

Naca Nabutu, Caubati

The four Singh sisters who won top academic prizes in their respective classes are excellent role models.

I wish to congratulate them after reading their story of hard work and persistence.

If they can do it, then many of their peers can do it also.

But it requires sacrifice and a lot of hard work.

Sometimes we make a lot of excuses.

I learned a number of things from the Singh experience.

One is the important role of parents. They are the first teachers as the Singh parents showed. Some parents may not be highly educated.

But the Singhs have proved that if we support our children then they are likely to do well in education.

This story makes me think hard about my role as a parent.

Have I spent enough time with my children during their evening study time?

Or Do I spend it with my friends at a grog session?

The Singhs have taught me that If am to choose between being at the grog party or with my children, I need to be with my children.

Parrot Mangoes

Sukha Singh, Labasa

Why is the price of parrot mangoes from $1.50 to $3 per fruit in Labasa. Can something be done about it?

Restaurant services

Edwin Sandys, Suva

I went to a restaurant after voting in Namadi today 14.11.18 to buy some lunch. It was 14minutes to 1pm when I ordered fish and it had to be cooked while we waited.

It was brought out and containers with chips was handed to the man, I understand is the supervisor of the restaurant.

Then he picked up the fish with his dirty hands and packed the few parcels with his dirty hands.

This is unhygienic because he was cooking the fried fish and with those dirty hands he picks the fish and packs it into the takeaway container.

Trying to hurry the sale because it was nearly 1pm is wrong because we are paying customers

Is this the standard of hygiene?

This is probably how they work inside, showing no regard to the health and hygiene of its customers.

We need superior service at this upmarket restaurant, where prices are so expensive compared with other restaurants.
