Team Nasinu Survive Challenging Times

Despite limited time of preparation, the Nasinu athletics school team are glad to have made it to today’s FMF Chow Games at the ANZ Stadium, Suva.
Team Nasinu have fielded 105 athletes that are competing from the Under-9 right through to the U14 grades.
Team Nasinu manager Aminio Tui told SUNsports yesterday that despite the hindrances faced they have managed to push through to the competition.
“We’ve been preparing for this competition for the past three weeks so time was a challenge for us,” he said.
“Last week we couldn’t come to the stadium because of the Oceania sevens rugby competition.
“So we have this week to train at the national stadium but otherwise the training has been happening in school.
“The students still have the spirit to push themselves to where we are today.”
SPRINTER SETS TARGET
For 12-year-old, Aisake Rokotakala the hardships faced while preparing for the competition has made him confident in winning the 100metres gold medal.
“With the exams over now I can concentrate on training and injury is a worry as well,” he said.
“I’m going to try and defend my 100 metres gold medal and I know it’s going to be tough but I will try my best.”
“I want to thank my parents and the Lord for his guidance and the talent that he has given me,” said Rokotakala.
The competition starts today and continues on with the finals tomorrow.
