Lautoka dominated Day One of the 2018 FMF Chow Games leading with 8 gold, 6 silver and 6 bronze medals at the ANZ Stadium, Suva yesterday.

In the boys division Lautoka collected 4 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze medals, Nadroga/Navosa are second (3, 4, 7), Suva One in third place (3, 3, 2) followed by Ra (3, 0, 0).

The sugar city side also leads the girls division with 4 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze medals, Suva Athletics second (3, 2, 3), Na­droga/Navosa in third place (2, 4, 3), Nadi in fourth place (2, 3, 3).

Lautoka throwers coach Tevita Koroi said they need to stay humble and focus on day two of competition.

“We don’t focus too much on the day one results but we try our best to stay humble and we just do what is required. We are fo­cussing on our recovery and getting athletes ready for the last day.

“We prepared for five weeks, unfortunately, most of our schools couldn’t make it because it was during our examination week,” Koroi said.

Koroi calls on Lautoka supporters to come out in numbers to­day.

“We want our supporters, parents and guidance to come and support our athletes on the final day.”
