Wallis and Futuna won 4 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze medals at the 2018 FMF Chow Games at the ANZ Stadium yesterday.

Mikaele Liufau also broke the 21-year national record in the U14 boys shot put with a throw of 16.51metres erasing the record set in 1997 by Jonetani Debeu of Lautoka.

In second place team-mate Fololiano Motuku grabbed silver (16.48m) while Leon Stolz of Suva One settled for bronze (13.22m).

Anna Teugasiale won the U13 girls shot put throwing a distance of 10.42m.

Amy Peters of Suva Athletics finished second (9.71m) and Joy Wise of Ba won bronze (9.35m).

Team manager Likuvalu Yonn was satisfied with the result.

“This is the first time for us to come and participate. We prepared for this competition since March.

“Our athletes are excited with the win as this competition is huge compared to what we have at home with just few athletes competing,” Yonn said.

“We want to thank our parents for their support. They came with us to watch their athletes in action.”
