Maharaj: My Sole Purpose is to Help, Serve

Alvick Avhikrit Maharaj, the youngest Member of Parliament (MP) for the FijiFirst party in 2014, is excited to serve another four years.
The 34-year-old bachelor and businessman, originally from Bulileka, Labasa, said he wanted to continue to be the voice of youths and ordinary Fijians.
“I was confident to win a seat because I had established work contacts, attending to people’s call for help, especially in the interior areas of Vanua Levu,” Mr Maharaj said.
“During my four years of work I travelled to places where no MP or candidate or minister had ever visited.
“I am a person who values relationships and prefers sitting and talking to those in need in person to see how best I can help.
“After my every visit I would compile reports on various issues and give it to the ministry involved so that the poorest of the poor can be assisted.
“I wasn’t a media attention person because when I joined politics my aim was to reach out to people in person and help them as much as I can,” the youngest of four siblings said.
“Being voted into Parliament for a second term shows my hard work.
“Every two to three months I used to make trips to Labasa visiting interior areas at my own cost because I love to serve people.
“It cost me roughly around $2000 to $3000 per trip.”
He said this was done for the love of helping the people.
By profession, Mr Maharaj is a pharmacist.
He is the Director of Good Health Care Pharmacy and Madison Chemist in Suva City, chief executive officer of Chemistwala and Director of GHC Supplies Limited (Wholesale Business).
Mr Maharaj started his business when he was 25 years old and it has rapidly grown through his hard work and perseverance.
He thanked to all those who voted for him.
