Assemblies of God High School dux is grateful that her mother had been there for her, whenever she used to panic about her exams.

Eighteen-year-old Varniya Prasad claimed that her anxiety towards her examinations was one of her major drawbacks.

“I panic because I tend to study a lot hence forgetting everything when it comes to exams,” she said.

“My mother always motivated me when I tend to panic a lot and she always advised me to relax and take a break. She always cheered me up with her talks when I have too much work pressure,” said the Year 13 student.

Varniya said she was honoured and privileged when she won the award at the school’s prizegiving ceremony last Friday.

“This was like a dream come true. I always used to dream to win dux.”

Dedicating her success to her parents, she said it was their encouragement that helped her whenever she used to fall back in her studies.

She said her biggest drawback was when she broke her arm last year, which made studying even more difficult.

“When I had struggles in my life, my mother was always there for me, which I will always be grateful for,” she said.

Varniya said she wanted to one day become an accountant.
