The Prime Minister’s post election message could not have been any more encompassing – “Let’s make a better place for all our people.”

This message embraced all Fijians and, in his words, all those who call Fiji home.

The election fight, though sometimes falling to the proverbial gutter level, is now over.

The bell has already sounded, the judges (voters) have made up their mind and the winner is announced.

The gloves have been taken off and as the loser would say we will see you in the rematch, which is four years from now.

Voreqe Bainimarama knew where he had the support and where he did not get it, as is the case with all candidates.

The details derived from this election went down to the finer points.

FijiFirst’s win will only strengthen its resolve and promise of leaving no Fijian behind and this is despite where one’s political loyalties lie.

The PM asked has asked all, those who voted for him and those who did not, to “run with us as we all work to make Fiji a better place for all our citizens and our future progeny under a united banner blue.”

Mr Bainimarama further said he would not discriminate against any, but would help grow every Fijian while at the same time uniting Fiji.

This election was indeed a dirty game.

It has divided families and communities and, in many cases, close friends.

Attribution for this must go to anti-FijiFirst politicians in their quest to enter Parliament.

The PM has given everyone a new lifeline – let’s work together as one for a prosperous future for Fiji and the future generations.

Let’s move Fiji forward.

Let us make our nation an even bigger force to be reckoned with than what it is today.

Our prowess on the rugby field must go hand-in-hand with the way the country is to be moved forward and for that, the PM has held out an olive branch to all Opposition members.

Over the next four years, look at our younger generation. The future holds so much for them, if only we give them that chance.

We need to be there to make that pathway to success accessible for them.
