FijiFirst Party leader Voreqe Baini­marama acknowledged his family, friends, FijiFirst candidates and all his supporters for their support through­out the election period.

Mr Bainimarama was sworn in as Prime Minister for a second four-year term at Bor­ron House in Suva yesterday.

He was accompanied by his wife, Mary Bainimarama, and his family members.

Mr Bainimarama took the oath or affirma­tion of allegiance before President Major General (Ret’d) Jioji Konrote.

The event was witnessed by delegations, members of the diplomatic corps, FijiFirst candidates, friends and families.

“It’s been an exciting day for all FijiFirst supporters and candidates,” Mr Bainima­rama said.

“The people have made their choices, they have elected my party to lead the Govern­ment in the next four years.

“My Government initially and the Fiji­First Government have put up development for the last eight years or so and people have realised what we have done.”

He said the people of Fiji had voted for cer­tainty, for development and most important­ly they voted for equality and “that’s what we stand for.”

“I thank everyone that has supported me, my family, friends and the FijiFirst candi­dates that stood for the elections.”

He said they would continue the work they had done in the past four years, especially in development.

Commenting on the decreased number of votes this year compared with the 2014 Gen­eral Election, Mr Bainimarama said: “Eve­ryone understands that we had election on a bad weather, a lot of people did not turn up to vote, they were probably my voters that did not come.

“We have learnt from that and the next time around we will organise a lot more transport then we did this time.”

He will sit with his team in the next few of days to discuss portfolio allocations.
