We will be running onto the field with the Commander’s message to win and keep the trophy at QEB and we will do that-RFMF team manager Elia Rokowailoa

The Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto wants the Ratu Sukuna Bowl to remain at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks (QEB), Nabua.

The order from the top has been relayed to the RFMF team preparing for the 67th Ratu Sukuna Bowl challenge against the Fiji Police Force at the ANZ Stadium, Suva tomorrow at 6pm.

And according to RFMF team manager and former national rep Elia Rokowailoa, the team will work on what the Commander wants.

Speaking to the Fiji SUN at the Navy Training Base at Togalevu yesterday, Rokowailoa said as defending champion they face a mammoth task but the young team was ready for the experienced Police team.

The team, he said had trained hard as they knew they would be facing a very tough opposition.

“It will be 80 minutes match and we’re ready for the Police challenge,” Rokowailoa said.

The young team he said had been camping at Togalevu and they had been told of what the Commander wanted.

He said they would not let the Commander down and likewise the RFMF family and supporters.

When asked if they had the size to match up with the opposition,

Rokowailoa said they did not have the size but they had the guts.

The game he said would be fast, entertaining and brutal.

For the Police team, he said they would want to wrestle the trophy from them but they would not let it go easily.

“We will be running onto the field with the Commander’s message to win and keep the trophy at QEB and we will do that.”

The Assistant Commissioner Police Rusiate Tudravu had earlier said that the right place for the trophy was Nasova and was at QEB temporarily.

This year’s Ratu Sukuna Bowl match, Rokowailoa said would be played at 6pm at the ANZ Stadium on Friday.

Rokowailoa said the RFMF Sukuna Bowl team would have their captain’s run at the ANZ Stadium at 6pm today.

The admission will be $10 for a seat at the pavilion and $5 for the embankment.
