Deepshek, Monisha Share Dux Award

It is common knowledge that the dux award is usually presented to one person.
This was not the case at Labasa Muslim College. Deepshek Kumar and Monisha Devi were both presented the dux award after scoring 345/400 in their annual examination.
“It was highly competitive, but I’m glad that I was awarded the dux together with her,” said Deepshek.
The classmates knew they had to study really hard right from day one.
“The main thing I did was pay attention in class. I was really alert to what the teacher was teaching and this really helped me remember things in the final exams,” he said.
The early morning studies also played a significant role.
“I get up every morning and study from 2am to 5am. This is when everything is so silent and it is the perfect time for me to study,” he said.
He plans to study aircraft engineering at the Fiji National University next year.
Monisha also said the competition provided her the drive to do well in her examinations.
She plans to study medicine at the Fiji National University’s College of Medicine and Health Sciences.
