Emanuel Prem Masih said he couldn’t have done it had it not been for his parents’ encouragement.

The 13-year-old scooped the dux award during the Vashist Muni Primary School prizegiving in Navua this week.

“The people who inspire me to keep up are my parents, teachers, my family and friends,” Emanuel said.

“They always encourage me to never give up and to never look at the negative side of things and also to trust God, who made us.”

His father, Ronald Masih, said he would continue to encourage his son to do his best in everything that he does.

“We as parents are very proud of our son’s achievements. We want to thank God for blessing us with a dedicated son,” Mr Masih said.

“We also want to thank his teachers for their dedication, especially his class teacher Ms Ashni Singh.”

Emanuel also scooped first prizes in Best Attendance, Distinction in a Fiji Mathematics Competition and Chemquiz Competition 2018.
