Nabua To Groom Future Stars

Winning is the last thing on the Savusavu-based Nabua rugby team’s list as they participate in the Ucunipotu 7s tournament at Subrail Park in Labasa.
Head coach Isoa Logavatu told SUNsports yesterday that they are not there to compete for the lucrative prize-money but to secure overseas contracts for their players.
“We will approach the tournament with caution and will leave our past winning records aside,” he said.
“We have to be mentally ready if we are going to be under pressure during our games. We will take each step at a time in the tournament and we hope to boost our performance. Logavatu said rugby was not only about winning, but improving the standard of players to pursue a better rugby future.
“Playing sevens rugby takes patience and determination, especially grooming young talents into a team to become the best,” he added.
“That is what the Nabua rugby team has been doing in the past years and next year, we will groom more young players and expose them in big tournaments.
“ We will take the Ucunipotu 7s tournament as a stepping stone for our young players to be recognised by the 1national selectors and international scouts.”
