Habitat for Humanity Fiji and Aqua Pacific (Frezco Beverages) Ltd jointly announce the first year of their global corporate social responsibility partnership of $100,000 for over 10 years.

Aqua Pacific and Habitat for Humanity Fiji 2018 partnership will support housing, water, sanitation and education building projects for communities where Habitat for Humanity Fiji operates.

Frezco Beverages Limited founder and chief executive officer. Altaaf Jamal said: “We are very pleased to support Habitat for Humanity and look forward to the positive impact that our partnership program will bring to community development.”

As part of the partnership, Aqua Pacific will support the Habitat Young Leaders Build Campaign in Fiji as a sponsor for a period of 10 years. The Habitat for Humanity Young Leaders Build is an initiative that for the past five years, has brought over thousands of youths together from across Asia and Pacific regions to support people and families in need of decent housing.

The movement encourages youths to take the lead and motivate their peers to build homes and communities, on a Habitat build site and/or online through their social networks. Habitat Fiji has hosted this campaign for the past four years with over hundreds of youth throughout Fiji involved. This year, they will be hosting their 5th Habitat Young Leaders Build campaign from December 5 to April 21.

This yearly campaign involves local youth in construction activities and advocacy about the housing issues that vulnerable Fijian families face.

In the past, this event has had participants learn about the need for decent housing and identify specific community actions and projects that support their community. Participants will be equipped with leadership skills and opportunities to contribute and meaningfully support the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.

“We are grateful to Aqua Pacific for their support to further the mission of Habitat, as we work together for a world where everyone has a decent place to live,” said Habitat for Humanity Fiji National Director Masi Latianara.

“We share a commitment for helping families in need. This support will enable Habitat for Humanity Fiji to improve the lives of many families throughout the country.”

Habitat for Humanity Fiji will announce its 2019 launch of Habitat Young Leaders on December 5.
