Asco Motors held its 27th National Skills Contest on Saturday 17th November 2018. This is an annual event that takes months of preparation and continuous assessment.

There are six different categories open for participation:

  • Toyota Technical
  • Service Advisor
  • Parts Advisor
  • Toyota Body
  • Toyota Paint
  • Vehicle Sales

The staff participated in 3 rounds of theory and practical to qualify for taking part in the finals. The rounds started in March this year.

There were 27 contestants from Suva, Nadi, Lautoka, Ba and Labasa. We also have six participants from South Pacific region countries, namely, Samoa, American Samoa, Vanuatu and Tonga.

The winners from each category take home the rotational trophy, plaque, certificate, monetary rewards and other prizes.

We had external and internal judges for each category. The external judges were mainly from Fiji National University.

Champions from each category, except for Body & Paint, would be competing in the Group Skills Contest in 2019 against other competitors in Oceania group.
