Case Adjourned For Woman Accused Of Murdering Daughter, 4

The case involving a 35-year-old Nausori woman who allegedly drove a car into the Rewa River on May 6, 2018 causing the death of her four-year-old daughter has been adjourned to January 21, 2019.

Rozleen Razia Khan’s case was called in the High Court in Suva yesterday before Justice Vincent Perera.

She was represented by a lawyer from Law Solution, who said that Rozleen suffered mental depression.

She is being charged with murder.

Justice Perera heard that the defence had perused Rozleen’s psychiatric report, which confirmed that anything could trigger her mental depression. The defence is looking to call the psychiatrist as a witness.

State lawyer Susan Serukai said they would not rely on a letter written by the accused as evidence.

She said they would rather rely on the evidence that they had gathered through investigations.

Justice Perera advised Ms Serukai to get the voir dire disclosures ready by the next court date.
Rozleen has been further remanded in custody.
