Dolokoto, Mawi Grateful

Mesulame Dolokoto and Eroni Mawi aim to keep on working harder to be part of the Fiji Airways Flying Fijians team.
Local –based ruggers Dolokoto (hooker) and Mawi (prop) came on in the second half to be part of the famous 21-14 victory over France over the weekend in Paris.
This is the first time Fiji has beaten France and also the first time ever Fiji is ranked eighth in the world.
With 1.55 points awarded to them, Fiji’s overall score is now 77.95 points which takes them above both France and Argentina who have been relegated to 9th, 10th respectively.
Dolokoto, who replaced Sam Matavesi in the 72nd minute, was overwhelmed to be part of the team.
“Experience is priceless. Playing international rugby with those calibre of players, you just can’t match it,”Dolokoto said.
“I have to do what I do best. I have seen the level you need to match overseas players as preparation has to go up. I have to be consistent and do the simple stuff. We are proud to beat the France.”
He said the eight Fiji Airways Fijian Drua reps gelled well with the overseas based players.
“The aim was to cause an upset and make history. We knew the odds were stacked against us but we listened to the captain and senior players.”
He was ably assisted by Leone Nakarawa.
“He told me to hit low in the scrum,”Dolokoto said.
“It is good to have those players who lead from the front.”
Mawi, who replaced Campese Ma’afu, said he was happy to be a Flying Fijian.
“It was a really an honour to be playing with these players making history for Fiji in France,”Mawi said.
“I will be working hard and aim to make the 2019 Rugby World Cup.”
The other players who arrived in the country last night included Ratu Veremalua Vugakoto, Mosese Voka, Joeli Veitayaki and team manager Viliame Gadolo.
