Man pleads not guilty to attempted murder, denies criminal intimidation charges

 

A35-year-old man charged with attempted murder pleaded not guilty at the High Court in Labasa yesterday.

Oliva Whippy appeared before Justice Salesi Temo and was represented by Legal Aid Commission lawyer, Boseiwaqa Karen.

It is alleged that on the August 25, 2018, in Savusavu, the accused attempted to murder a woman.

The accused is also charged on two other separate counts of causing criminal intimidation pleaded guilty.

On the second count, it is alleged that on the same day, he threatened a person with intent to cause death.

On the third count, it is alleged the accused threatened four Police officers with the intent to cause death.

Both of the alleged incidents happened in Savusavu. The accused pleaded guilty to the two counts of criminal intimidation.
The court heard that the accused is serving a one year and seven month sentence for a difference case.
The accused will be released in August 2019 for that imprisonment.
The case was adjourned to December 12, 2018, for mention.
