Botitu Shines On Dubai 7s Debut

Young Fiji Airways Fijians 7s rover Vilimoni Botitu scored two tries as they romped to a 41-0 win over France in the 2018/19 HSBC World Sevens Series opener in Dubai last night.
Botitu came in as a substitute in the second half along with winger Alasio Naduva to score two tries each while Amenoni Nasilasila scored a try.
Head coach Gareth Baber reminded the players at halftime to complete all their attacking moves.
The Welshman pointed out that there were three instances in the first half that they did not finish their moves which was wasted opportunities.
“You need to keep in mind your defensive line as their big men are working had so you need to keep up with the tackles,” Baber said.
Rover Sevuloni Sevu scored the opening try with Vatemo Ravouvou adding the extras from the conversion for a 7-0 lead.
Then a break by winger Filimoni Tuimaba saw him run 50 metres before passing it to captain Kalione Nasoko for the second try, which was not converted for a 12-0 at halftime.
Also impressive was prop Apenisa Cakaubalavu who was always out hunting for the ball and also his ability to be around supporting the ball carrier.
He was in the thick of things was able to set-up a couple of tries in the second half.
Meanwhile, in an upset Scotland dumped Kenya 35-14 in their pool opener.
Both teams will be meet the Fijians early this morning to determine who qualify to Cup final.
