Chinese National Allegedly Bribes Civil Servant

A Chinese national who is charged with one count of bribery of a public servant will face judgment before the Labasa Magistrates Court next month.

Xiaguang Ma was represented by lawyer Ami Kohli and appeared before Magistrate Cama Tuberi yesterday.

Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) North’s chief investigator Ilaisa Bacau appeared on behalf of the commission.

It is alleged that Mr Xiaguang on or about October 19, 2015 in Labasa without lawful authority or reasonable excuse offered an advantage in the sum of $200 to one Apenisa Naceba a public servant employed as a senior labour office at Ministry of Labour.

The case is adjourned for judgement on December 28, 2018.
