National Federation Party President Pio Tikoduadua had to withdraw statements he made in his speech which referred to Minister for Lands, Mineral and Resources Ashneel Sudhakar.

Mr Tikoduadua claimed in Parliament that Minister for Lands Ashneel Sudhakar was a trustee of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP).

VHP was classified as a Militant Religious Outfit in India by the American Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) world factbook.

Mr Tikoduadua dedicated a good part of his speech on Mr Sudhakar, but was made to withdraw his false claim by the Speaker, Dr Jiko Luveni.

Mr Sudhakar clarified he left VHP soon after joining politics.

At an executive council meeting of VHP on July 6, 2015, Mr Sudhakar ceased his membership with VHP.

This is according to documents sighted by the Fiji Sun.

Mr Sudhakar took umbrage at Mr Tikoduadua’s false assertions and raised a point of order.

Following this, Mr Tikoduadua withdrew his remarks.
