Seahawks Win $10K

Marist Seahawks won $10,000 after defeating Striders 39-14 in the Raka 7s Cup final at the ANZ Stadium yesterday.

Striders collected $2500 for their effort.

Seahawks captain Ana Maria Roqica said despite lack of preparation her team never gave up.

“Most of us took part in the Oceania Rugby Women’s Championship and we just trained together for a week.

“We were not at our level best but it was our passion that drove us,” Roqica said.

Striders’Luisa Basei scored and converted her own try but the Seahawks fought back with tries to  Rusila Nagasau,Jennifer Ravula and Lavenia Tinai with Rusila Tamoi kicking two conversions.

Halftime:Seahawks 19-7 Striders

Marist Sea Hawks continue their dominance as Tinai, Roqica and Lice Ratumaitavuki scored a try each which were all converted.

Striders’ Timaima Ravisa scored their second try which she also converted.

Fulltime: Seahawks 34-14 Striders.

Striders coach Tavaita Rowati said: “I’m impressed with their performance of our young players.:

Fiji Airport Nadi Aviators settled for third place and won $2000 while Valkyries came fourth and received $1000.
