Miss Nadi Bula Festival 2018, Kirisitiana Uluwai says Fijians should start looking at climate change solutions instead of focusing solely on the problem.

She wants to take this message to the public during the Miss Fiji Pageant.

The 23-year-old, who was crowned in July this year, said she had been preparing since then and was mainly focused on her topic, “Climate justice, the other side of the coin”.

She said it was not only about being on stage and being part of the pageant, but the core part of participating in such pageants was to make sure that one’s message was delivered.

“It is not about raising my voice as a young person, it is not about being seen on that platform, but the main aim for me is to get my message across,” Ms Uluwai said.

“I find that people in Fiji, especially the Pacific, we talk so much about the impacts of climate change and how much we have lost because of climate change that we become victims of our own mentality. If we change our perception then I think we will be able to find more solutions.”
