Ana Miller from Nukubalavu said she is happy that they can now sell their handicrafts at a convenient place.

The 73-year-old was one of the women to witness the opening of Natuvu Park which is at the heart of the town.

“We did not have any space so we used to move around from one place to the other,” said Ms Miller.

The park has primarily been given to the women to sell their craftwork.

She said that it had been quite a challenge for them especially taking into consideration that more women had been drawn to the work.

“Women in my area have been actively showing interest in it but there was a major problem to find space to sell our work,” she said.

“We are so thankful to the Government for providing us with this space,” she said.

She was also grateful to the tents, tables and chairs given by the government.

Mere Botilagi, 51, said: “This means a lot to us, as now we have a formal setting where we can come every day and sell our craft.”
