A document recording the status of people from Macuata Province and their challenges will soon be available, thanks to research and a survey by the Macuata Provinicial Council.

The document is important because it will play an important role in coming up with the integrated village development plans, said council senior assistant Roko Tui Maikeli Sauwaqa.

“We have been doing individual household profiling since the beginning of this year and we are now about to conclude the same,” he said.

The data, Mr Sauwaqa said, could be used by Government ministries in order to plan and use resources.

He said the need for it arose from having a holistic approach to dealing with everyday challenges.

Mr Sauwaqa added that the survey questions were focused on developmental, climatic, communal and network coverage in the region.

With the help of the Australian Volunteer Interaction (AVI), the team designed an application software which instantly captured the data at the time the survey was being undertaken.

The data will be released during on February, from which a thorough developmental plan would be constructed based on the needs assessment of the people.
