Documentary Shows Reality Of Climate Change In Fiji

COP 23 High-level Climate Champion and Minister for Defence Inia Seruiratu this week introduced a documentary Subject to Change at the Pacific and Koronivia pavilion.
“In the Pacific, climate change is a reality. We are among the most vulnerable and the most affected,” he said.
Mr Seruiratu also highlighted the new norm of the climate change crisis in Fiji with the extreme weather pattern such as intense rainfall, prolonged drought and rising sea water.
The 30-minute documentary was made by film students from Massey University in Wellington with the support of New Zealand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
It documents the personal stories of Batiki Island in Fiji which is faced with the realities of living on the frontline of climate change. While the film is brought to life by the personal stories of the people of Batiki, it is very much the story of all Pacific communities.
