Teams aim to bounce back in Cape Town this weekend after falling short in the first round of the World Sevens Series in Dubai last weekend.

Fiji, South Africa, England, Australia and the United States aim to prevent New Zealand for making it two weeks in a row and steal the show at the Cape Town Stadium.

Fiji Airways Fijian 7s coach Gareth Baber has warned his players to lift their game after their 5th place finish in Dubai.

Indiscipline let them down and Baber wants no repeat.

“We would have beaten USA in the Cup quarterfinal but indiscipline let us down,”Baber said.

USA reached the final but went down to New Zealand.

Speedster Perry Baker said while he was delighted to score six tries, there was still a lot of frustration at having to settle for second place.

“We are a genuine top four team and that is why it’s so important to keep the momentum we generated in Dubai going into Cape Town,”Baker said.

“My focus this week has been on how I can get better and step things up to help the team win this leg of the Series because we believe the sky is the limit for USA.

The South African players will be wearing a special kit to honour former President Nelson Mandela.

South Africa captain Philip Snyman said the crowd at the sold out Cape Town Stadium would boost their energy levels.

“We will be playing in front of 50-odd thousand people each day in the only weekend we get to play in our own country. That is massive for us,” he said.

“More importantly, we will also be playing with the support of 50 million people, and we are hoping to make all of them proud.”

Fiji play France at 9.59pm, Kenya at 1.20am and England at 5.03am.
