Passion for travel led Shabana Aliti Hussein to work as a travel agent and now she has opened her own travel consultancy firm.

The Travel Managers Fiji managing director has more than 10 years of experience in the travel industry.

Travel Managers Fiji opened on Thursday night, and is located at Sports City (New Complex), Laucala Bay, Suva.

Ms Hussein said: “I am grateful to my team because they have been supportive of me with a combined 45 years of experience. So we really have a good team.

“We all worked at One World Flight Centre.

“We wanted to grow and here we can give our opinions and views because we wouldn’t be restricted.

“Travelling is my passion and I wanted to do something more so I decided to start my own business,” Ms Hussein said.

She stated that she has an amazing team.

In terms of challenges, she said in the beginning they encountered challenges because they were operating from home so it wasn’t easy to do marketing.

“We started off six months ago operating from home. A small business which was just me and Paula and there was a delay in us moving to our new office.

“It took us six months to move here. We mainly look after corporate clients as well as leisure travellers.

“We are a new company and we have been in the travel industry for more than 10 years each.

“We would like to be a one stop travel shop … who do visas well as ticketing and anything to do with travel.

“So basically, we want to take travel to another level.

“But after moving in here, it has been good I have been given a lot of response and approach from corporate clients and eventually we will grow.

“At the moment we offer services like visa services, flight tickets and accommodation. In the future we plan to go into inbound travels.”

The 35-year-old hopes to expand her business into the western division.

Her advice to young women is:“If you have a passion for something go for it”.

“My source of inspiration is my parents; they mean a lot to me.

“They have always been there for me, always supported me.

“I have an amazing team and I have faith and confidence in them.
