Sunshine Coast of Australia dominated the Grasshoppers Netball competition finals at the National Netball Centre yesterday.

The Australians won the U19 final beating Grasshoppers Gold 20-6 and thrashed Grasshoppers Diamonds 25-9 in the U16.

In the U14 grade they finished third after defeating Kadavu 15-10 in the third/fourth place playoff while Grasshoppers Emerald won the U14 grade beating Lautoka based Gloria’s Netters 17-16.

Sunshine Coast settled for third place in the U12 grade beating Cool Netters 16-13 and Kadavu won the U12 grade beating Lovely Orchid One 21-20 to clinch U12 grade.

Tournament co-ordinator Gabrieli Qoro rated the overseas teams.

“Sunshine Coast dominated and it was a good to have the overseas teams from Australia and New Zealand in the competition as they lift the level of competition.

“This competition has really grown from when it first started from 17 teams to 30 now,” Qoro said.

“It’s good to see young players competing in the four grades.”
