Republic of Fiji Military Forces Engineers Regiment were yesterday told to uphold and protect the institution’s reputation.
Since the festive season is upon us, Commanding Officer Lieutenant-Colonel Semi Mocelutu reminded his unit during a parade of Sappers Day celebration.
Lieutenant-Colonel Mocelutu inspected the parade before delivering his speech to officers, women and men of his unit.
Speaking in iTaukei, he said: “I urge you all to remain committed and focused to the intent and theme of the Commander of the RFMF, which is progressing forward, connecting to a bigger goal and being visionary to project beyond that higher goal.
“We will uphold our duty as enshrined within the constitution. It is a sanctified commitment that we must protect.
“Should anyone deviate from this pledge then expect to face the consequences’ of your actions.”
Lieutenant-Colonel Mocelutu thanked his unit for their individual service and achievements, especially for those serving in the Middle East and also to those locally partaking in capital projects (schools, bridges, roads, village housing, etc.), adding that it impacts and contributes to nation building.
“Take great care of your families and I wish you all the best during this festive season,” he said.
The day also saw sappers being recognised for their work.
The Sappers Day celebration concludes today at Albert Park conference room.
