Expect more cars on Fiji roads with another two international car carrying vessels due into the Suva port later this month.

The two vessels, Beluga Ace is due December 14 while Silverstone Express is due on December 17.

Both vessels are departing from Yokohama Port in Japan. They are also both registered in Panama.

Carpenters Shipping Limited is the local agent for Beluga Ace. Yesterday they refused to release information about the vessel.

“We need permission from the principals or the owner of the cargo in Japan,” he said.

Beluga Ace l features gross tonnage of 63,115, deadweight of 15,154 tonnes and length by breadth extreme of 199.95 meters by 32m year built 2018.

Silverstone Express features the gross tonnage of 43, 810, deadweight of 15,425 tonnes and length by breadth extreme of 180 meters by 30m year built 2009.

Beluga Ace is the first Next-generation FLEXIE Series Car Carrier Cutting-edge, Newly Designed Car Carrier Equipped with six lift able decks.

The new vessel marks a major advance in functionality, with six liftable decks, compared with two on conventional car carriers.

This allows the Beluga Ace to more effectively meet demand for more diversified vehicle and high and heavy cargo transport.

The rounded bow shape will minimize wind resistance and is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by about 2 per cent ompared to today’s car carriers.
