The Fiji Sugar Corporation (FSC) Labasa mill official­ly closed for 2018 crushing season yesterday.

Mill manager Michael Faktau­fon tipped the last cane truck at around 2pm.

It a statement FSC stated that Labasa was the first mill to com­mence crushing this year in June and has now concluded its crush­ing for the 2018 season.

An update on all the three mills will be issued towards the end of next week, after FSC’s two re­maining mills conclude their sea­son’s crushing.

The Labasa cane belts provide for about 40 per cent of the total crop crushed per season.
