The Elenoa Kunatuba coached Naitasiri Un­der 19 Womens 7’s side took out the 2018 National Provincial Age Grade Cham­pionship at Prince Charles Park in Nadi yesterday.

The side defeated a strong Suva side 19-7 in the final.

Naitasiri Coach, Elenoa Ku­natuba said they dedicated their win to the Naitasiri Rug­by Union manager the late Vil­iame Kanatabua who passed away recently.

“We just started our prepa­ration from last Thursday to Monday this week and I am really proud of the girls today.

“We dedicate our win to our late manager Viliame Ka­natabua and I believe if he was here he would be more proud of the win today. He was very inspirational to the prov­ince of Naitasiri and the girls really played their out.”

In the semi-final Bua lost to Naitasiri 7 – 14 and Suva proved strong for Nadroga 17 – 0.

Suva wins U17

Suva defeated Tailevu 26-5 to take out the Under 17 category.

Coach Meli Tuifagalele said; “I felt very happy about the win. Even though we had a short period training but ef­fort put by the girls on the field today was great.”

“There were a lot of hin­drances but we are thankful for the support for all the in­dividuals, NGO, the overall sponsor for this tournament UN Women, Fiji Rugby and also to our Sponsor for also making an opportunity to sup­port young women in the male dominated field,” he said.

In the semi-final, Tailevu beat Cakaudrove 10 – 7 and Suva beat Lautoka 26-5 in the battle of the cities.

Cakaudrove wins U15 final

Cakaudrove defeated Macu­ata 17-14 in the epic battle in the Under 15 final.

Coach Saqata Naivalu, said; “I am really happy about the win because they have came a long way for rugby and also they have tasted victory at this national Competition level.

In the semi-final, Caka­udrove defeated Naitasiri 5-0 while Macuata defeated host Nadi 19 – 12.

The event was organised by the Fiji Rugby Union and Oce­ania Rugby’s Get Into Rugby programme.
