WAF Employee Charged For Accepting Plane Ticket
The Water Authority of Fiji’s Regional Engineer Bulk appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday for an alleged corruption related offence.
Mohammed Shahfraaz Ali was charged by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) with one count of Bribery under the Prevention of Bribery Act of 2007.
He is alleged to have accepted a return ticket to Sydney, Australia, from Sphynx Solutions Pty Ltd between March and June 2017.
The ticket was valued at $1430.60 and was purchased in March 2017.
FICAC State lawyer Sera Fatafehi informed the court that first phase disclosures were served and requested strict bail conditions to be imposed.
Resident Magistrate Geethani Widanelage released the accused on bail after two sureties were produced and imposed a surety bond of $1000.
She also issued a stop departure order, confiscated his passport and instructed him to report to the FICAC Suva Office on the last Saturday of every month, not to reoffend and interfere with witnesses.
The matter was adjourned to January 28 2019.
