Nasea Conference Methodist Church choir in Labasa has joined the many Christmas Carol around the world with the Christmas tradition of caroling in communities.

Also known as wassailing, the choir of 70 people began at 7pm from Government marine quarters in Labasa, Naodamu Housing, in front of homes in Delailabasa and culminated the event at the  Labasa Police Station.

Nasea Conference Methodist Church choir group leader Josevata Ratuvou said they obtained a permit from the Fiji Police Force to spend one day singing carols in Labasa.

“The purpose of this was to pass on the message about the birth of Jesus Christ bringing peace to everyone regardless of different social statues and economic background,” Mr Ratuvou said.

“At the same time we want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

“It has been a trend that the church has been following for more than a decade where we take out one specific day before Christmas to sing carols in Labasa.

“To the places we visited they didn’t know that we were coming as we planned to surprise them.”
