Foodcity will bring increased supermarket competition in Suva City.

Located on Rodwell Road, directly opposite the Suva Bus stand and the Suva Market, Foodcity offers a new shopping experience to everyone.

Foodcity Pte Ltd director Nazeel Buksh said: “It’s a new company and we have about 45 staff.

“But we would increase our staff in the coming weeks because of the festive season.

“Traffic has been very eye opening, we didn’t expect that many people since when we opened last Friday.

“We had been after this location for a while now; it’s one of the best locations for a supermarket.

“It has a big car park space and it’s convenient to customers.

“The plan is there to expand but not immediately, once this is up and rolling then we will expand to major centres around Fiji.

“The landlord Kelton Investments invested about half a million in renovating this place and we did certain parts of it.

“Our initial setup cost, capital expenditure would be around $1.2 to $1.5 million and then stocking up was around $1.5 million so around $2.5 million as total.

“We offer a new shopping experience for everyone, I am urging customers to come around and have a look at the setup and the range of items on offer and the prices.”

This new supermarket will provide competition amongst other supermarkets in the city.

The supermarket was opened last Friday by Kelton Investments Limited chairman Sir James Ah Koy.

Foodcity opens from 8am to 9pm from Monday to Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 4pm.
