Secure A Lawyer, Labasa Businessman Warned

Labasa businessman Mohammed Shamsood, charged with theft, was warned by Magistrate Seinileba Levaci to secure the services of a lawyer to avoid confusion.

Dalomo Sawmills Limited company director Shamsood’s case was called yesterday for hearing.

However, the hearing didn’t take place because he informed Magistrate Levaci that he paid three different private lawyers and he wanted them all to represent him.

Magistrate Levaci told him that there was a procedure in court that he had to follow and he must come prepared for the next hearing date, March 19, 2019, with one lawyer.

She then explained to him if none of the lawyers represented him then he would have no choice but represent himself because the hearing date had been set.

One of his lawyers present in court, Ami Kohli, confirmed that his client had disclosures with him. Edited by Epineri Vula
